New Yorker Electronics has recently introduced a new product from Vishay called the SiZF4800LDT. It is an 80V symmetric dual n-channel power MOSFET that combines high and low side TrenchFET Gen IV MOSFETs in a compact PowerPAIR 3x3FS package measuring 3.3mm by 3.3mm. This MOSFET is specifically designed for power conversion applications in industrial and telecom sectors.

The SiZF4800LDT offers several advantages over traditional discrete devices. It helps increase power density and efficiency while improving thermal performance. By integrating two MOSFETs into a single package, it reduces component counts and simplifies designs. In fact, it can replace two discrete devices typically found in the PowerPAK 1212 package, resulting in a 50% reduction in board space.

This dual MOSFET is suitable for various applications such as synchronous buck converters, point of load (POL) converters, and half- and full-bridge power stages for DC/DC converters. It finds applications in radio base stations, industrial motor drives, welding equipment, and power tools. The SiZF4800LDT's high and low side MOSFETs are optimized for 50% duty cycles, and its logic level turn-on at 4.5V simplifies circuit driving.

Key features of the SiZF4800LDT include its low on-resistance down to 18.5 mΩ at 4.5V, which is 16% lower than competing devices of the same package size. It also offers a low on-resistance times total gate charge, a figure of merit (FOM) important for power conversion applications, of 131 mΩ*nC. The MOSFET employs flip-chip technology, which enhances thermal dissipation and results in 54% lower thermal resistance compared to competing MOSFETs.

The SiZF4800LDT can handle a continuous drain current of 36A, which is 38% higher than similar competing devices. Its unique pin configuration simplifies PCB layouts and minimizes parasitic inductance in switching loops. The MOSFET is thoroughly tested for reliability and compliance, including 100% Rg and UIS testing. It is also RoHS-compliant and halogen-free.
